The asscher cut is a square step cut with deeply cropped corners and concentric facets that draw the eye inward, creating a striking 'hall of mirrors' optical effect. Developed in 1902 by the Asscher Brothers of Holland, it is an icon of Art Deco design and remains a favourite for vintage-inspired high jewellery. Its ideal length-to-width ratio is 1.00 to 1.05.
